This is me with my wife Jan. We were married in 1975. Jan is a school nurse. We have three children and five grandchildren. Someone recently said to me that there are many things in life that are over-rated, but grandchildren are not one of them. I can confirm that truth.
My oldest child has had a career in sales and corporate management. The two youngest are school teachers.
I was born in Statesville, NC in 1954. My early life was spent on a farm, learning the lessons and values of rural farm life. It was my grandfather who was the farmer, my father was a coach and High School English teacher and later a school psychologist. My mother was a home maker who spent a great deal of time instilling in me the values and an ethic for hard work and good organization that I have today.
My values were reinforced by my Presbyterian upbringing. As a friend once said of himself, "I grew up with a drug problem, I was drug to church every Sunday." That pretty well describes my early life. The lessons I learned and the faith that developed from them have served me well in my life. Currently, my wife and I attend
The Cove Church in Statesville, NC.
My work and employment history are in the
history section.
